Marbella Town Hall Installs 40 New Modern, Functional, and Smart Public Restroom Modules Along the City’s Promenade Before Summer.
Mayor Ángeles Muñoz highlighted that these new facilities “are more in line with the character and needs of the city,” and stated that “they will serve people who walk along the promenade, as well as users of playgrounds, beach bars, and the beach itself.”
The mayor, who visited the first of these facilities located at Playa de Levante in Puerto Banús, noted that the investment amounts to €1.2 million, co-financed through the Major Tourist Cities Plan signed between the City Council and the Andalusian regional government.
The Councillors accompanied Muñoz for Public Works, Environment and Beaches, Diego López, and for Nueva Andalucía, Vanessa Ortiz de Zárate. She explained that the restrooms will open and close automatically between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., and are “completely sustainable, powered by solar panels.” “Each module contains four bathrooms and is accessible to people with reduced mobility. They also feature baby changing tables, an emergency system, and security cameras,” she noted.
She added, "Although all elements are anti-graffiti and vandal-proof, unfortunately, not everyone understands that these are public assets, and it’s very important to take care of them.” Muñoz also mentioned that the restrooms will be made available to residents throughout this month and the next, with the goal of having them fully operational during the peak season.
