Torrequebrada Golf Club
Marbella
Situated just west of the Benalmadena Costa, the par 72, 5806 metre course was designed by Spain’s most famous golf architect, Pepe Gancedo, who used the contours of the region to produce a course where each hole is has an individual character to it.
Well manicured, the fairways are in particularly good condition. Water hazards come into play on nine of the holes and there are actually over 100 species of trees lining the fairways. There are numerous fairway bunkers strategically placed, and players will find the well guarded greens very challenging. Torrequebrada dares you to ‘take it on’ and bolder players will have the opportunity to pitch their skills against every hole and enjoy them all, regardless of handicap. However, the course can be torturous for the inexperienced golfer and is extremely tight in places.
The course has hosted several international tournaments and those with good memories will remember the 1979 Spanish Open was held here and many of the Spanish pros like to practise here, especially Miguel Angel Jiminez who lives in the area.
Directions: The course is located between Benalmadena and Fuengirola. On the N340 take the exit road at km. 220 near the Torrequebrada hotel. Follow the signposts for the course approx 5km.
