Guadalmina has hosted the PGA European Tour Qualifying School several times in its history giving the course international recognition. Guadalmina has a wonderful location – the beach at one end and the mountains behind it, and is located right next to Puerto Banus. It offers two 18 hole courses and a 9 hole practise course.
On the whole it is a golf course with reasonably wide undulated fairways sweeping through recently developed urbanization’s and villas.
The North course is probably the easier of the two, even though there are more water hazards and trees in play. The two final holes at the 9th and 18th, which share a big lake that was built recently, are particularly interesting. Here one can enjoy the spectacle of two intermittent geysers sprouting 30 metres into the air and creating a curtain of water against the green and the fairways.
The South course was designed by Spain’s famous Javier Arana. This is a much tougher course, the wide fairways and raised greens stretch out towards the beach. There are few water or earth hazards but the vegetation is abundant and it’s very easy to lose the ball.
Directions: The course is located just west of San Pedro de Alcantara in the Gibraltar direction. From the N340 turn right just after passing the Marbella Arch. Follow the signposts to Guadalmina Golf.
