Atalaya Golf Club
Marbella
Atalaya Golf and Country Club is the official headquarters of the European PGA. It is composed of two 18 hole par 72 courses and is a great complex for all players.
The Old Course is parkland and has wide fairways and large, mostly elevated greens. It has some long challenging holes but suits all levels of handicap. The course is impressive with fairways guarded by Eucalyptus, Olive and pine trees that provide welcome shade in the summer months, but also are eager to swallow up any wayward shots!
The New Course was opened much more recently (as the name would suggest!). It may be a little more difficult as it is necessary to have an accurate tee shot and it is certainly hillier as you get further into the course. It starts off gently and very relaxing between the wide fairways of the old course but then gets more difficult as you approach the foothills.
The club is suitable for all levels of players from total beginners to international pros thanks to the diversity of its tees and courses. Atalaya offers one of the largest driving ranges in Spain and supplies friendly tuition in several languages.
Directions: The complex is situated between San Pedro de Alcantara and Estepona. On the N340 turn off at the exit km. 169 signposted to Benahavis. Head inland for about 1km and it is on the left.
