Halloween in Marbella

Family Fun Food & Drink Parties Seasonal Celebrations

What do do and where to go to celebrate Halloween in Marbella in 2017

Halloween is celebrated in the same truly terrifying style in Marbella as it is in many other parts of the world!  With fun for all the family at restaurants, play centres, schools, sports clubs and within the towns and villages themselves make sure you have your outfit at the ready and get ready to be seriously scared! Although not a strictly Spanish tradition, the locals always get fully behind this spooky evening in Marbella. Although trick or treating and large, and often glamorous, Halloween parties are not part of traditional Spanish culture, October 31st is a significant day in Spain because it marks the beginning of "El Dia del los Muertos" or the Day of the Dead which is celebrated on November 1st and is a National Spanish Holiday.  Do keep in mind that while this may be a big party day to some, to many Spaniards this is a day when they choose to honour and remember loved ones that have sadly passed.

One of our favourite things to do at Halloween with children is courtesy of the town halls of Marbella and Benahavís who convert the town and village into a world of zombies, witches, ghoules and ghosts on the night of the 31st.  Venture to Marbella's Old Town (Casco Antiguo) or to the centre of Benahavís as soon as it starts to go dark and enjoy the transformation into a world of terror. Youngsters and adults are welcomed to dress up as their favourite ‘spook’ and enjoy sweet treats and fun games.  The local Schools always take Halloween seriously so don't to expect to see many children in school uniform after school on this day of the year!  You will also be able to find face painting, fun spooky cuisine and dressing up at Mundo Manía, a play centre dedicated to children from 0-14 years as well as at Funky Forest which is another dedicated activity centre for kids.

It isn’t just about the kids, there is plenty of fun to be had for the adults too! Many of the bars, restaurants and nightclubs in Marbella and Puerto Banús such as La Suite, La Sala and Olivia Valere organise themed nights with special menus, fancy dress and often with prizes for the best dressed or the most frightening makeup.  So, if you want to be a Zombie until the sun rises in Marbella do not fear, there are an array of venues that will welcome you in and if you want to achieve a professional Zombie look then head to Golden Tarts whose makeup artists will be transforming faces all day long!  Celebrations for Halloween often start on the weekend that is closest to the 31st so this year the weekend of the 28th/29th is when you will find lots of venues throwing a Halloween inspired party!

To find out more about what to do and where to go you don't have to look much further than our events calendar.  We will aim to list everything that is going on in town as well as at specific venues and you can make your bookings directly from the pages.
