December Weather in Marbella

What to expect from the weather during the month of December in Marbella and the surrounding area

The weather in December always involves a drop in temperatures however the clouds often remain clear and the sun is still very much shining. The daytime will often still have temperatures of 17-18ºC, however, the evenings drop a good 10 degrees so you definitely notice the change, and usually need a jacket rather quickly, as the sun goes down.  Marbella does also have the odd rainy day in December.

December is not the month to visit if your idea of a holiday is lying by a pool or sitting on a beach all day because it's just not guaranteed to be possible every day however if you want to enjoy some activities, adventures and sightseeing then this is a super time to come to Marbella.

Some good places to visit
In December Marbella itself is super pretty with all the Christmas lights so making a special visit into Marbella's Old Town, Casco Antiguo, is a must at this time of year.

What to pack - Essentials / What to wear
You will need a foldable umbrella in case of light showers and it really would be an idea to have a warmer coat and a hat/scarf for the evenings.  If you are travelling from colder climates you may not feel the temperatures so much but locals will definitely be seen in Jeans, Boots, Coats, Hats, Gloves and Scarves at this time of year.

Best places to find the locals
This month is often when local businesses will be celebrating Christmas parties with their colleagues and also when family and friends get together.  The marinas are quieter but the town centres of Marbella and San Pedro will always be buzzing at the weekends.  Check out the Boulevard area in San Pedro to blend with the locals, enjoy a few Gin and Tonics and some great tapas.

What not to miss
The Christmas markets in Puerto Banus and Santa´s Grotto with the Advent display in the Parque de la Alameda in the centre of Marbella.
