Messina
Marbella
A dinner at Messina is not just a Michelin star experience it is also most certainly a fun experience; a fantastic menu featuring a creative fusion of different cuisines, matched with their extensive selection of wines all housed in an impressively decorated restaurant.
Messina was originally in Old Town Marbella starting off with only 4 tables inside and 4 outside. As it’s reputation grew the demand for tables made them choose a new location and it is brilliant. The whole design was created by an Argentinean designer, right down to the menu holders.
The restaurant is owned and run by Pia and her husband Mauricio Giovanini, who is the head chef. It’s a very exciting menu with dishes such as Grilled skate with a ‘fake egg’ of onion cream and tomato yolk, Argentinean fillet steak and my personal favorite the Iberic pork ‘lasagna’ with caramelized apple. Two simple touches I loved about the restaurant were the fact that you had a choice of olive oils to try with warm bread and the fact that they had a water list; both features I have never seen done before.
There is ample parking nearby and in the summer they offer valet parking to take all the trouble out of it. Dining at Messina is letting yourself in for a sophisticated taste fusion and I don’t doubt that you will find yourself saying ‘that is delicious’ throughout the meal.
