For visitors and locals alike, not every day is a beach club day. With this in mind, here's a comprehensive list of the best beaches on the long Marbella coastline.
Playa Capopino:
This is a magnificent beach at the far Eastern end of Marbella, about 20 minutes from the town, surrounded by the Artols Dunes, a protected area of natural beauty which forms the backdrop for Cabopino Beach, a shallow bay, great for swimming if you have youngsters, and probably some of the finest sand in the area. Water Sports such as jet skis and Paddle Boards are also available.
Beware, mind you, if you are of a sensitive nature, that part of the beach is reserved for nudists, although this is a fair way up the beach towards Marbella which is about a 20 minute drive from Cabopino Port, where you will find plenty of Restaurants like Alberts Bar and Grill for excellent food and refreshment.
Playa Artola
Heading west from Cabopino, the next beach is Playa Artola, where you will bump into the aforementioned naturists, a much quieter beach for obvious reasons, with amazing sand dunes filled with rare and wonderful coastal vegetation
The Senda Litoral, a sturdy wooden Boardwalk that stretches down the coast, winds through the dunes so as not to disturb the protected flora and fauna.
The amenities here are sparse, so you won't find sunbeds or kiosks should you hanker for an ice cream; this is beach life at its barest.
