El Paraiso Golf Club
Marbella
El Paraiso is one of the oldest established courses on the Costa Del Sol. The course was designed by Gary Player and it winds its way around two lakes and through hundreds of mature pine trees. The golf club is a ‘traditional British’ club with an international membership. The club is justifiably proud of its very friendly, sociable atmosphere, and visitors are most welcome and can even enter in many of the competitions organised by the club each month. The clubhouse, situated in the middle of the course is rustic and very popular.
The central holes of the course (the 13th and 14th) are incredibly beautiful, with their large trees and lakes. The water hazards play an important role, both for the beauty they add to the course and because of the dangerous streams lying hidden in the rough!
It suits all handicap strategies and the secret is to drive the ball well, although it is not a particularly tight course. A good drive will virtually always leave you simple access to the greens with a fair chance for a birdie. A good mixture of holes with some par 5’s that are reachable in 2, it all adds up to a course where you can have a relaxing and enjoyable round in very scenic surroundings, great for the holiday golfer!
Directions: From the N340 turn off at km. 167 between San Pedro de Alcantara and Estepona. There is a sign for the El Paraiso Hotel. The clubhouse is past the hotel entrance on the hill. If travelling from Estepona you will have to go past the exit and go off at the Benahavis exit and turnaround to come back on yourself and take the km. 167 exit.
