Description

Help walk the shelter dogs at Triple A Marbella, the largest animal shelter on the Costa del Sol. Every day, we try to take as many of the 200+ dogs out as we can for a nice walk through nature around the shelter. It's a big operation, but we make it possible with the help of many amazing volunteers. We are always in need of dog lovers who can join us by helping out. This activity is great to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, meet new people, and most importantly, spend quality time with dogs who weren’t so lucky in life. You will be well-guided by experienced volunteers, ensuring a safe and enjoyable walk for both you and the dogs. No experience is necessary – just a love for dogs and a serious attitude. You must be 16 years or older, physically able, and comfortable around large, strong dogs. Please understand that shelter dogs are energetic and untrained, they may pull on the leash and jump. It’s important that you're not afraid of (big) dogs, that you can handle busy, sometimes chaotic situations, and that you don’t mind getting dirty. For everyone’s safety, we ask all volunteers to carefully follow the instructions of our coordinators. We cannot allow people who are screaming, doing their own thing, or not taking the task seriously. The coordinator will make sure that you only get dogs that you can handle and these will be friendly, non-aggressive dogs who are used to people. Upon arrival, the coordinator will provide a briefing and assign a dog for you to walk. If the dog is part of a group, you will walk together as a group. If you are visiting with others, you can usually stay together. Each walk lasts 30 minutes, including time in one of the fenced dog parks where the dogs can run freely. After returning to the shelter, you can choose to do another round with a different dog. You can join us anytime between 09:00 and 12:00, and stay for as long as you're able. Even one hour is helpful! By booking your ticket, you easily make an appointment to come help at our shelter and you also support the shelter financially at the same time.
