Half Marathon in Marbella

The XXXIII Half Marathon of Marbella will take place on October the 6th and will be scored for the Andalusian Championship for the first time in its history.

The mayor, Angeles Muñoz, said that 'it is a very well-established event and this year will be taking a leap in quality' and has advanced that 'the registration period has opened today and our goal is to increase the figures of the last edition and exceed the 2,000 runners'

The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has been in charge of opening the registration period for the event in an act that has had the assistance of the Councilor for Sports, Javier Merida; the president of the Andalusian Athletics Federation, Enrique López, and the athletes Martín Fiz and Javier Díaz Carretero.

The mayor said that 'it is a very consolidated proposal that this year has important developments, as we have an ambassador of exception as Martin Fiz and we will make a leap of quality to be scoring for the Andalusian Championship.' He has indicated that 'one of our main objectives is to increase the number of entries in 2017 and exceed 2,000 runners' and said that 'we will continue working to make the Marbella Half Marathon a must in the provincial, Andalusian and national calendar'.

Lopez, meanwhile, thanked the City Council for its collaboration and indicated that 'the Marbella Half Marathon is supported by the good work of all previous editions' and assured that 'the city has all the ingredients for the test to return to be a success. ' It has specified that the categories go from junior to veterans, a circumstance 'that facilitates the increase of inscriptions and the possibility of exceeding 2,000'.

Martín Fiz has shown his satisfaction 'for being an ambassador of an event that, as I predicted when we presented it in January in Fitur, will be one of the most important of the year' and has encouraged the citizens of Marbella 'to support Media Marathon, because this type of initiatives have a very significant tourist and economic impact '. He has advanced that he will participate in the test, but he will not go to the top positions 'because my intention is to mix with the runners and with the people who come to support them'.

Finally, Javier Carretero has specified that the race will have two laps, each of 10 kilometers, with start and finish at the Palacio de Congresos 'Adolfo Suárez'. The Half Marathon, of 21 kilometers, will start at 19.30 and the 10 kilometers at 21.00 hours. He pointed out that the circuit will mainly cover Ricardo Soriano Avenue and part of the Old Town.
